A Family Travelguide to Aberdeen

Aberdeen in Maryland (United States of America) is allways good for a little stop.

A little town called Aberdeen, Maryland, just 30 miles northeast of Baltimore, Aberdeen has wonderful accommodations with great hotels, all of which offer rates at a much more reasonable price than those in Baltimore. We found a great first class hotel for less than $130.00 a night.

While staying there, we were delighted to discover that Aberdeen had great restaurants and interesting activities to offer our family. The Ripkin Family Museum was a must see for our boys. Watching my husband share stories with the kids about seeing Cal Ripkin play baseball will always be one of my favorite memories of that day.

It was at the Ripkin Family Museum that we learned about the Ripkin Academy. Since we were in a baseball kind of mood, we ventured out for the academy. There were batting cages, a training infield and soft toss areas that were unlike anything our kids had ever seen. Don’t miss the replica fields on the site. They have a mini Camden Yards, Fenway Park, Wrigley Field and Memorial Stadium. Of course, Yankee Stadium’s field was a full-size replica.

We did take a day trip to the Inner Harbor one day and had the experience of what a real crab cake is but, for the most part, we enjoyed our time in Aberdeen. Our boys even allowed us time to do some local shopping and we were able to find the kind of mementos that will help us remember our special time together in Aberdeen.
